MW2 (blog?)

I have been playing MW2 quite a bit lately (for me), not compared to others apparently. I have been wanting to get my 2 cents out there and now I suppose I am gonna do it. Read on if you would like...or not if you like. I would just like to hear what other people say and would like to get my opinion out there. I guess I will just type as I think so I may be all over the place...forgive me. ALSO...CAUTION, I MIGHT END UP GIVING SOME THINGS AWAY ABOUT THE STORY.

I am torn between playing MW2 and playing CoD4. CoD4 is where my roots are so I would like to keep playing but I also like to stick with MW2 more because it seems that I am one of the lowest ranked persons to play when I play.

It seems that they (Infinity Ward? whoever) improved somethings when it came to MW2. I like the change from CoD4. It seems as though I have played CoD4 maps for years. I am ready for something different. MW2 fills that need that I am looking for. Different maps are good! In MW2 it seems as though there is something different about the graphics (maybe someone can help me out there). IDK if it is more scenery or what. Sometimes it seems to be hard to see someone unless they are moving. It is like that in CoD4 too but maybe it just as much as MW2.

It seems as though MW2 is designed for multi-player and the single-player aspect of MW2 is just "there because we have to" sort of thing. The single-player story isn't as long as it sounded like it would be before it came out. As far as single-player goes there are many twists to the plot that you don't see coming. As I have told Chief, MW2 plot leaves an opening for MW3. The different...uh..."situations" it puts you in (i.e. starting underwater, or having to ride a snow-mobile) is nice for a change. I would have liked to see a mission or two where you would have to control a different vehicle (i.e. C-130 Spectre...CoD4 single-player).

The co-op missions are a good addition! They seem to be different from the single-player missions so it is fun to do them too. Some of the co-op missions require you to have two people. When I try to do a harder level of the same mission it will take some time. I have not had many oppotunities to do co-op missions because usually it is just me.

The multi-player portion of MW2 seems to be what MW2 was designed for. I like that there are MANY more 'rank-ups', perks, challenges, and weapons. It is too bad that it doesn't use dedicatd servers. I knew about all that before I got it but I knew that we would just find a way to work with it. It will be just a matter of time when whoever will come up with a way to use dedicated servers on MW2. Either Infinity Ward or whoever will come up with something! One thing that gets me about multi-player on MW2 is that the hacks are rampant! I am not computer savvy AT ALL compared to most of these people. I have NO IDEA how to hack...not that I would even want to. I like that you can play in 3rd person but it was very hard for me to get used to! I will play it now but not if I don't have to. There are many different game types but it seems that I am better when I play HQ. If I am getting destroyed playing HQ then there is a good chance that someone is hacking. If that is the case then I just go play TDM for a round and then go back to an HQ server. For the most part MW2 has some improvements over CoD4. THAT DOESN'T MEAN I AM GONNA STOP PLAYING CoD4!!!

P.S. Get the game guide by "Bradygames" as I am sure it will help you. It has helped me!

I am not opposed to MW2, but just haven't had the money to buy 2 of them right now. I have heard that it is really cool and the graphics are great. I am kind of excited to play it.

On the other hand, IW has basically told PC gamers that they don't matter, so "just stfu". We apparently do not represent a significant portion of the financial profits. The hackers were one of the main problems. Their new system is really bad, and most people won't be as nice as you and leave and come back. They will just leave, and eventually just leave the game.

Basically, they like the IWNet because they can then sell you perks and upgrades like you would buy in WOW. In other words, if you are getting Pwnd, you will be able to buy a perk or skill to make you better (this is in the future). Not to mention charge a monthly fee.

I have also read that there are perks and rewards for "death streaks". So, perks that give the new guy a bit of balance. Which is great I suppose if you are the new guy.

So, hopefully there is a fix soon cause I would love to get into it - but it doesn't look good. Looking at the forums on the topic, IW and the console gaming community consider us "whiney bitches" and tell us if we don't like it - "go play another game".

I will give it a try, but am bummed that Allie and I would only randomly be able to be in the same server, and then not be able to pick teams. I was extremely excited for this game to come out, so we will see.

Oh yeah...definately (Chief) !! It is just a game. After reading your post Intrinsic I though of what Chief had already said.

You can add any person to Steam and then sned and recieve "invites" to get into the same game together. Torch and I have played MW2 with many of the REJ clan including LordHelmet. It was/is a blast. There was one time (probably more than 1 time) that we had 6-7 people all "invited" together. We were all on ts together while playing. The was also a time or two that we had so many in our group we were the only ones on our side.

Oh yeah...also, I COMPLETELY understand the $$ part. I ended up getting it right when it came out because my wife paid in full before it came out. She didn't know I havd it reserved already...lol.

In regards to the PC'ers playing MW2. When I went to pick up MW2 on my way home from work (almost midnight anyway) I was one of a few there that got MW2 for the PC. Most people there were there to get MW2 for the Xbox, followed by PS3 (I think). When I did get to the coumter to get my copy the person behind the counter had to go to a back room to get my PC version. There were many copies out front by the registers but they were for other platforms. MW2 players on the PC version are definately in the minority.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to knock you or the game, just very leery. The $140 for two of them is a bit daunting if it turns out bad, lol. But yeah, I really want to try it.

I am also concerned that our current systems will not handle it. I wish there was a demo to try out first. Did any of you have any problems with it? Let me know...

If u can run MW1 on anything higher than Medium u can run MW2. MW2 has been optimized exceptionally well. My friend has a pretty crappy laptop and plays MW2 on it. It has i believe a 7 series Nvidia card, 1.6 Ghz CPU, and 512 RAM and plays without any graphical hiccups. oh Intrinsic wat u mean $140? MW2 is $60 and 2 copies should only cost $120. Very well worth its pricetag. if Halo ODST can sell for $60 and only give a 6 hour campaign and multiplayer everyone alrdy owns than MW2 is most def worth $60 bucks. also they added HC HQ to the game modes list.
